Defending champion Gervonta Davis overcame the odds and beat Hector Garcia. The match was scheduled for twelve rounds. But Davis won in the eighth round via a TKO (Technical knockout).

Garcia starts round five with some double action. He catches Davis with a double jab and misses a few. Davis counters with a shot upstairs, but Garcia replies with a body shot.
Davis pushes forward, trying to unleash a few power shots. He catches Garcia with a straight right to the head and a triple combo. Round four ends in his favor.
Davis continues his momentum in round six as he absorbs Garcia’s jabs and body shots. He misses a strong uppercut but lands his body shots and continues to target upstairs. The exchange continues as the bell rings.
Garcia responds well in round seven. Davis tries an uppercut but misses as Garcia counters hard with his body shots. We have seen him working on the body as he tries to wear his opponent down.
Davis lands a right hand while Garcia struggles to find a good shot. The bell rings as we move into the game-changing round of the scheduled twelve.

Final Round

Garcia looks to take advantage of the jabs that proved effective in the previous round. He lands an uppercut and a big left hook upstairs. Davis is successful with his body counters but continues eating Garcia’s combos.
The match is stopped as the audience seems to have an issue. The referee calls for a time-out. The issue is resolved as we get back into the in-ring action. Garcia continued working on his body shots, and Davis was still standing.
We see an exchange of 1-2s from both fighters. A flurry of body shots from Garcia lands as Davis replies with a triple combo. Davis lands a crucial left hook followed by a right to the body. He lands a huge left upstairs that stuns Garcia as he stumbles away.
Garcia looks battered but is not out yet. We thought we were moving into round nine. But Garcia retires to his corner. It appears the challenger is having vision problems. This was the final straw as the referee rang the bell and declared Davis, the winner by TKO.


The final blow towards round eight proved fatal for the Dominican. “Tank” Davis remains undefeated as he defends his title successfully. Now he will look to put down another Garcia as we look forward to his bout with Ryan Garcia in April.
